Dumbo Arts Center's Secret Garden Party
Brooklyn, NY
April 29, 2010The Dumbo Arts Center's Secret Garden celebrates the arrival of spring and promises a night of surprise performances, music, dance, silent auction and all round festive fun. Proceeds directly benefited the development and creation of new art through DAC's exhibition program. DAC's mission is to catalyze interaction between visual artists, the local community and the wider public, in order to preserve the neighborhood of Dumbo as a springboard for new art and Yak Pak was more than happy to help out a hometown organization!
As folks mingled about the art space, an animation projection by Sean Capone displayed vibrant floral images on the wall. A garden of grass was laid in the middle of the space-- a rare treat for us New Yorkers!-- with benches and lawn chairs to relax in. Party-goers delighted in an interactive performance by Olek as they perused the art up for auction and ended the night with a Yak Pak Tote filled with all of the latest info about the DAC.

Winter Music Conference
March 23-27, 2010Celebrating the 25th anniversary of WMC, all nominees of the International Dance Music Awards and conference panelists received a limited edition Yak Pak Laptop Shoulder Case to cart around their computing counterparts.
The day before rallying with fellow Miamians in support of Cuba’s “Ladies of White,” Pitbull sported a Don Johnson-inspired look and told harrowing tales of living in Miami through the 80’s and how the city has changed, joking that if New York is “The Big Apple,” then Miami is “The Big Pineapple.”
Slightly out of character, Lil Jon checked into the Eden Roc Miami with little fanfare and walked the grounds with his manager, saying little to anyone else, but definitely scoping out the bikini-clad girls by the pool…
And in a case of “where are they now,” Lars Schlichting, the German house DJ from Real World London is still thriving at his art and seemed right at home working his way through the crowd.
Also on the scene was Grammy Award-winning house DJ Roger Sanchez!

South by Southwest
March 2010Everyone loves a good party and Yak Pak is no exception! As the creator of the original DJ Record Bag, we have always been an enthusiastic supporter of those on the forefront of the music and, like us, those who are pushing the boundaries of their industry. And, in 2010, we’re spreading that support around the country!
First up on our musical menu this year was South by Southwest, where we were involved in not one, not two, but four parties in Austin throughout the duration of the festival.
Our hometown heroes Jelly NYC, Mad Decent and IHEARTCOMIX teamed up to present a carnival extravaganza that boggled the mind. Over the course of three days in the heart of downtown, Carniville Austin took over the scene and was definitely THE place to be. Yak Pak provided over 1,000 goodies to be used as game prizes, as well as a few various exclusive items from our vault for performing artists like Major Lazer, Diplo, Rye Rye, Kid Sister and GZA!
And from the Village Voice to SF Weekly, everyone who is anyone was up on Village Voice Media Party. Once again, the performing bands (The xx, Superchunk, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Surfer Blood) received special treats courtesy of Yak Pak.
And, of course, we always show love to the indie musicians and up & comers. Attendees of the Big Picture Media Showcase received a Yak Pak tote while listening to Ahimsa Sunrise, The Colourist, Emii and Ionia, while folks rocking out at the Rethink Pop Music Showcase got a chance to win Yak Pak giveaways in between bands like Built by Snow, The Vanguard, The Yes Way or Ambassadors.
